Painful Out of Body Experiences
I wish I could report that all my out of body experiences (OBEs) are fun, peaceful, and without any drama. Unfortunately, that just isn’t the case.
There was a period of time when I consistently felt a water drip on my lower back. Over time, this sensation turned into more of a buzzing, and eventually a drilling:

Felt like I was being worked on; the drip down my back turned into a buzzing feeling.
Sep 26, 2025:
Had work being done on me, felt a drip on my lower back, turned into drilling. I would touch it and they would stop. Kinda got painful at times. … Not sure what I was dealing with, didn’t seem benevolent but didn’t seem mean either, kind of playful/mischievous. … They went for my groin which I protected with my hand. Not sure what was going on.
The drip eventually stopped, but shortly after I started getting a very painful throat-flexing sensation:
Nov 10, 2025:
When I spoke (not under my control), I felt incredible tenseness in my throat, like my entire throat was flexing.
Dec 9, 2025:
Multiple people braced me. They touched my throat and lower back, and zapped me pretty strong. It was painful but I tried my best to relax. They were nice and trying to help but it was painful.
Hey, at least the people seemed friendly! Soon after, my ribs started getting squeezed by some rude entities while being scanned:
Dec 11, 2025:
Got pulled out and was taken to some place to get scanned. Got scanned and saw my hands in weird colors. Got squeezed on my ribs. Had a discussion around having an “ambulus” (some sort of disease?). I asked them some questions and they played death metal music. It was all very silly. I told them they weren’t being honest and they started saying how I wasn’t honest in a past life; it was comical in a way.
Dec 19, 2025:
Had entities moving me around, I asked who they were and they gave me a rude answer. I manifested a magical staff and used it to fend off the entities grabbing at me. Very silly I know.
Dec 24, 2025:
Got pulled to my left and heard someone speaking. I forgot what they said, but remember it wasn’t nice. They put me in a machine sitting upright and scanned me or something. The device grabbed my chest/ribs.
That seems to have stopped, but just today I had another entity shock me:
There were hands on my feet. I reached down to remove them. They transformed into clusters of thin tentacles and grabbed me aggressively, then started to shock me. I told them they needed to be kind, nice, and gentle. They continued shocking me. I repeated that they weren’t being kind, in a scolding tone and they scurried away.
What to make of all this? Is this even real, or just a mental fabrication?
It certainly feels real. When I report that I was grabbed, it’s because I literally felt myself being grabbed. These experiences are not dreamy visions. I experience it like waking reality, with a clear mind. Typically I can’t see in detail, but I have touch, hearing, and basic color sensations.
What do other traditions say about this sort of thing?
Buddhism has both interpretations – some say realms and beings literally exist, others say it’s just the mind and should be ignored. Hinduism is also mixed, but mostly leans towards the idea that these experiences represent some form of reality.
OBE literature (Robert Monroe, etc) usually takes the experiences at face value: they feel real, so they’re real. Monroe’s formulation is a bit too simple, I like Frederick Aardema’s interpretations better: they can be real, but they can also be driven by expectation (like dreams), so it takes skill to distinguish between the two.
My best guess is there is some reality to them. I can move in and out of dreams reliably, and can usually see through false awakenings when they’re occurring. But ultimately who knows – without some sort of external way to validate them, I am stuck in the same boat as everyone else: speculation based on vibes.
Oh well, maybe someday I’ll figure it out, but for now I just accept that unfriendly encounters happen sometimes. Just like physical reality 🙂.
