Out of Body

I started having out of body experiences when I was 16. Read my back story for more information.

These posts serve as a journal for my strange experiences. I’m not sure how real they are, but that’s part of the mystery 😀. I like to conduct hobby experiments for fun.

The Guardian

Sometimes it manifests as a scary voice, or a spooky presence in the room, but for me, it is usually more sophisticated than that. It’s a family member, or a friend, or a knock on the door. Something plausible.

Mind Awake Body Asleep

I heard someone breathing directly next to me. It took me a second to realize it was my own body!

Maintaining Lucidity

I was back in my childhood house. I went to the front yard and looked at the sky, it was beautiful. I was very appreciative and flew around in the sky for a little bit. My vision started to blur excessively, so I looked at my hands, and regained lucidity.

Light Body

My vision came online, and was very clear – more clear than my physical vision. I looked up at my hands in the dark. My veins were yellow/gold light. I thought that was awesome and exclaimed, “So I do have a light body!”

Smooth Exit

After another 30 minutes or so, I felt my body sink four inches into the bed. It was very peaceful; no vibrations, no wacky visuals, no blackouts, no hallucinations – and importantly – no loss of consciousness.

Silver Cord and Boredom

I have tried looking for my silver cord in the past, and never found anything. I didn’t expect this time would be any different. I reached around to my back, and to my surprise, there was a cord attached to my spine!

From Dream to Out of Body

I go into a corner office, and think about what to do. Since I’m imagining a video game, I know that zombies will appear soon. Instead, I decide to try and leave the dream, and get out of body.

Shot With A Beam

I saw a device in the corner of the room. It was very dark and my vision wasn’t that clear. Someone offered to turn on the device for me, and shoot me with it. I accepted the offer.

Maintaining Awareness While Falling Asleep

I tried a new strategy this afternoon: every time I caught myself drifting off, I would open my eyes, and look around the room. The technique worked!

Embracing the Vibrations

Looking around, I realized I wasn’t in my bathroom – I was in a different bathroom. It was like a bizarro bathroom. The aesthetic was different. It reminded me of the culture shock you experience when visiting a foreign country. The subtle details are different from what you’re used to.

Descent Into Dreaming

I floated towards the door, and my vision was becoming more clear. I looked down at my feet, and saw myself floating about a foot off the ground, as I glided down the hallway.

Warm Hug, Again

I felt a massaging pressure on my scalp. It felt like hands were massaging my forehead. Most meditations I will ask for help, if any non-physical being is willing to help me. Usually nothing comes of it (that I’m aware of). This time, it felt like one or more non-physical beings were helping me.

Seeing All White

Today, I finally clicked into some sort of new state. My vision went completely white, and I was only aware of my breath. Everything else about my body – my legs, arms, face, eyes, etc, were all gone.

Messing With My Double

As I was looking around, I ran into a double of myself. He looked just like me, and was walking around the house too. I found it so funny… I went up to him and started joking around.

Three Word Mantra Technique

The wake-back-to-bed (WBTB) technique works really well for me in general – but let’s suppose you wake up at 3am, wait around for 10 minutes, then go back to bed. You close your eyes. Now what?

More Real Than Reality

I looked up into the sky and saw a new reality materialize over everything. It was super high definition with vibrant colors. It looked more real than reality.

Benevolent Beings and Sarcastic Wilson Experiences

I felt a beam hit my third eye region, maybe an inch to the left of the spot right between my eyebrows. I used my non-phyiscal arm to point to where I felt the beam hit.

Ominous Monologue Experience

The voice delivered a very long and ominous monologue. At first I tried to memorize word for word, but it quickly became too much to take in. At one point, the voice seemed to mock me that it was purposely saying a lot so I wouldn’t be able to remember.

Are OBEs a delusional desire for immortality?

I’ve been thinking about the connection between OBEs and death, since my last experience included seeing my non-physical arm as mist.

Misty Arm Experience

After about four hours of trying, I was able to have another out of body experience, where I saw my arm as translucent mist.

Chair Experience

I had an out of body experience (OBE) this morning, again. It was very quick, but I thought I would record it just for posterity.

Baby Crying Experience

Since my last OBE, I have wanted to try and see an entity the next time I got out. However, this experience demonstrates that OBEs can be surprising and defy expectations.

Yanked Out of Body

Most of my OBEs have been pretty boring, believe it or not. Still, some OBEs have stuck with me through the years. One experience that I keep coming back to happened the morning of May 25th, 2006, when I was 23 years old.

What does a typical out of body experience feel like?

I decide I want to have an out of body experience. This post is an amalgamation of common things I experience, but not exhaustive. This is typical for the night – my experiences in the morning have a different structure.

Are Out of Body Experiences Real?

I used to be obsessed with this question. But OBEs are weird, and don’t fit neatly into our understanding of reality. Here’s how I was able to move past this question.

Warm Hug Experience

I started to perceive that a non-human intelligence was helping me or watching me out of body. I didn’t see anything, but I started to freak out a little bit.

Surfing Altered States of Consciousness

Everyone experiences altered states of consciousness. You might not realize it, but when you fall asleep, you pass through many different states. With practice, you can watch yourself fall asleep, and explore your own mind in the process.

Journeys Out of the Body

I started having out of body experiences when I was 16. I’m now 40 years old, and have been having them my entire life.
